Rio Madeira Gold Project: Rondônia, Brazil
The Rio Madeira Project targets a sediment-hosted gold system in a region with over 7 million ounces of historic artisanal production. Located 60 km west of Porto Velho with excellent access, the project centers on the Mocururu—a gold-bearing ferrocrete horizon formed 6–10 million years ago that artisanal miners couldn’t process, leaving it largely unexplored. Independent lab work confirmed heavy-mineral assemblages typical of mature Andes-sourced placer systems, and visible gold was recovered from reconnaissance drilling.
The matrix hosts 5–10% detrital ilmenite, a strong placer indicator. Multiple gold-bearing horizons occur above and below the Mocururu, creating several targets. Satellite imagery shows extensive paleo-channels, and 2012 drilling intersected Mocururu mineralization over 10 km from the river, confirming regional scale. Only ~2% of Canary Gold’s 160,000-hectare land package has been tested, underscoring significant district-wide potential.
